BENEFITS OF
CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Chiropractic is More Than Just Back Pain Relief
Chiropractic care isn’t just for back pain—it’s a powerful, natural way to support your overall health and well-being. Millions of Americans have discovered that chiropractic is not only a source of relief but a key part of a healthier, more active lifestyle.
At the center of it all is your spine. Made up of 24 independent vertebrae, your spinal column gives your body the freedom to move, twist, and bend through the rhythms of daily life. More importantly, it protects your central nervous system—the command center that controls every muscle, organ, and tissue in your body.
That’s why a healthy spine is essential for a healthy life.
When vertebrae stop working properly together—what chiropractors often call a subluxation or misalignment—it can interfere with normal nerve function and cause early wear and tear or degeneration of joint structures. These joint dysfunctions can lead to pain, discomfort, reduced mobility, and even miscommunication between your brain and body. Left unaddressed, they can affect more than just your back—they can cause symptoms throughout your body.
And here’s something many don’t realize: pain is often the last sign something’s wrong. A misalignment may go unnoticed for months—or even years—before symptoms show up. But the good news is, with regular chiropractic care, you can help prevent these issues before they start.

FAQS
-
How does chiropractic work? A person’s spine is made of twenty-four bones called vertebrae. At the top of the spine is the skull which houses the brain or master computer. From the brain, the nerve impulses travel down the spinal cord (which is protected by the vertebrae.) Nerves branch out between the vertebrae and travel to all areas of the body. A person cannot take a step without the brain telling the body to move. When the vertebrae become misaligned or “out of place,” they put pressure on the nerve. This is called a “subluxation.” The message from the brain is slowed down and the life energy carried by the nerve is unable to reach the organs and tissues at 100% of its potential. A chiropractor aligns the vertebrae through gentle adjustments to the spine, relieving the pressure on the nerve and allowing 100% of the nerve energy to reach the tissues it serves.

It is easy to understand if you compare the nerve to a hose. If your garden is desperately dry and needs moisture to grow, you will hook up a hose and water the garden. However, if someone comes along and steps on the hose cutting off the water supply, the garden will become sick and eventually die. Likewise, if the hose is released, the water supply will be restored and the garden can grow. Your body reacts in the same manner to subluxations. After a subluxation has existed for a period of time, symptoms will occur. The various symptoms of subluxations differ greatly. In some cases, the person may experience pain, numbness, or tingling. In other cases, the symptoms may go unnoticed except that the person is more susceptible to colds, tires more quickly or starts having problems with an internal organ. Remember, the energy which travels down the spinal cord and through the nerves serves every area of the body. Therefore, any area of the body can be affected by a subluxation.
-
Absolutely. There’s a reason top athletes like Michael Phelps, Tom Brady, and Rory McIlroy make chiropractic care a regular part of their training regimen. It’s not just about injury recovery—it’s about optimizing performance.
Research shows that chiropractic care can:
Reduce inflammation
Support a stronger immune system
Improve lung function
Lower mental and oxidative stress
Relieve muscle tension
Naturally boost energy levels
Chiropractic isn’t just about feeling better—it’s about functioning better. Both objective data and personal reports point to overall enhanced body function, helping you move, think, and perform at your highest level—whether you’re on the field, in the gym, or just living an active lifestyle.

Chiropractic care is one of the safest, most natural forms of healthcare available. It’s non-invasive, drug-free, and designed to support your body’s ability to heal itself—without the risks that often come with prescription medications or surgery.
Adjustments are highly controlled and performed with precision, using gentle pressure and minimal force. Most people feel little to no discomfort during treatment—and many experience immediate relief and improved mobility afterward.
Statistically, chiropractic care carries a much lower risk than many conventional medical treatments, making it a safe, effective choice for people of all ages.
-
Some people may experience mild soreness after their first adjustment—similar to the feeling you get after starting a new workout. It’s a natural response as your body begins to realign and adjust.
To help ease any discomfort and support the healing process, we recommend staying hydrated, using an ice pack if needed, and doing some gentle stretching. For most, any soreness is short-lived—and many feel noticeably better right away.
-
Yes. The shoes you wear during physical activity will be a major determining factor in the stabilization the spine and joints of your body. Although there is not a “one-size” fits all recommendation on the type of shoe you should be wearing, you do want to make sure that support is optimal.
-
The answer to this question depends on your presenting condition and overall goals. Some patients may choose only to seek relief when pain or symptoms occur whereas others desire a more preventative approach to their health. Just as regular visits to the dentist are necessary for good dental hygiene, routine visits to a Doctor of Chiropractic for proper spinal function and health maintenance are also important.

Only the health care provider that placed you on the medication can legally and safely alter the dosage. Many patients under regular chiropractic care have reported a positive change in their symptoms and less medication (prescriptions) and over-the-counter (OTC) drug use.
